"A Night in the Gutter" Yields Marklund $3,000 (Spring 2006)

The Fox Valley office raised more than $3,000 for Marklund at their “A Night in the Gutter” event earlier this month.

Nearly 150 people purchased the $15 tickets to fill up the 24 lanes at the St. Charles Bowl. The tickets were good for three games of bowling plus food, which was donated by local eateries.

The branch also raised money by selling raffle tickets and lane sponsorships to vendors.

Marklund helps infants, children and adults with severe and profound developmental disabilities reach their highest potential and live as full a life as possible. The organization’s Mill Creek facility provides medical, social, emotional and physical services for their clients in a live-in setting. About 20 percent of Marklund’s $17-million annual budget must come from the support of foundations, grants, fundraisers and individual and corporate donors, including Baird & Warner.

Concert Raises More Than $2,000 for Marklund (Jan. 2006)

Baird & Warner’s Fox Valley office raised more than $2,000 at a concert benefiting its favorite charity, Marklund.

Sales Associate Dennis O’Brien, who has been a popular local entertainer for years, organized the event earlier this month at the Steel Beam Theatre in St. Charles. He also performed, playing his acoustic guitar, as well as teaming up with several other talented musicians and singers, including his daughter Abbey.

Marklund’s primary site in Geneva is made up of four 16-bed residential homes for adults with severe and profound developmental disabilities. Fox Valley’s contribution will help the organization in its goal of adding two new 16-bed homes in 2006.

The office would like to thank Donna Steel for providing the venue and to the fundraiser’s co-sponsors, Northern Sky Designs and www.OnTheFox.com.

Fox Valley Donates Annual Check to Marklund (Dec. 2005)

Our Fox Valley office presented its annual Good Will Network check of $1,500 to Marklund.

The funds will be used to support homes and educational programs for individuals with severe and profound developmental disabilities. Marklund relies on the support from foundations and grants, private donors and corporate sponsors, like Baird & Warner, for about 20 percent of its $17 million annual budget.

Marklund at Mill Creek in Geneva is Fox Valley’s chosen charity. The office has had an ongoing relationship, which has included tours of their impressive facility and helping out at their events. Last winter, the entire office made colorful felt blankets to keep the laps and legs of their wheelchair bound clients warm.

Through various fundraising endeavors throughout 2005, the Fox Valley office has generated $8,520 in donations, in addition to the $1500 Good Will Network check.

In the series of photos, Larry Smith, Fox Valley’s GWN representative, is giving the check to Tracy Methling, director of corporate events and fundraisers for Marklund.
