Arlington Heights Enjoys Another Smash Event

The Arlington Heights office held itgs annual event on Saturday, July 21st at the world-renowned Arlington Park racetrack.  Attendees enjoyed an afternoon of exciting thoroughbred racing in the beautiful International Room.  Watch for photos and information about the event in the near future.  See how our colleagues in Arlington Heights organized this effort?  See sample documents below:

Arlington Heights Wins Big at the Track (Aug. 2006)

Our Arlington Heights Branch raised over $16,000 for WINGS at its 2nd annual "Day at the Races."  Some 250 Sales Associates, family members, friends, clients and sponsors gathered at the Arlington Park race track on the last Saturday of July to watch the ponies run for a good cause.

In addition to providing the thrill of world class horse racing, the event also featured a silent auction, a 60/40 cash raffle and 18 different raffle prize packages.  A "Men's Day Out" package, for example, included a pair of Chicago White Sox tickets courtesy of Steve Baird.  Another popular package -- "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" -- included a party basket and hand-painted glasses made by the Home Office's own Gailene Cowger-Fine.

"People heard about our success last year and tickets sold out really quickly," said Tammie Benyk, Sales Associate and event co-chair.  "We made it a fun day and at the same time raised some money for a good cause."

Event beneficiary WINGS ("Women In Need Growing Stronger") is a nonprofit community agency that works to combat domestic violence and homelessness.  Last year, WINGS completed the construction of a 15,000-square-foot Safe House for victims of domestic violence, which it operates in addition to 3 homes and 21 apartments that serve as transitional living facilities.  The tremendous strides WINGS has made, however, are still not enough to offset the needs of the communities it serves -- the organization receives over 1,000 calls for assistance each year.

"We are so proud to have been able to create an event that raises both awareness and financial support for local victims of domestic violence," said Shaunna Burhop, Sales Associate and event co-chair.  "Community involvement is critical to WINGS' ability to continue its mission."

Tammie and Shaunna would also like to thank the dedicated volunteers that made the event possible, including fellow AH committee members Peggy Kukankos, Kim Pape and Diane Zielinski.

Arlington Heights Helps WINGS Raise $100,000 in May (June 2006)

Last month, our Arlington Heights office started selling tickets to its 2nd Annual Day at the Races event, which is scheduled for Saturday, July 29, and is to benefit WINGS. By coincidence, an anonymous donor promised to give WINGS 50 cents for every dollar raised in May. With our branch’s help, the organization was able to raise $100,000 during its May Day campaign.

And, the office is expecting to raise even more through additional sponsorships and tickets sales, expecting to donate a total of about $16,000 to WINGS.

A limited number of tickets are still available for the event, which will be at the Arlington Park racetrack. Attendees will enjoy an afternoon of exciting thoroughbred racing in the beautiful International Room with a lavish luncheon buffet and four-hour open bar service.

Arlington Heights' Day at the Races Gives WINGS $8,300 (Sept. 2005)

Baird & Warner’s Arlington Heights office raised more than $8,300 in its first “Day at the Races” event benefiting Women In Need Growing Stronger (WINGS).

The branch hosted the fundraiser Sept. 10 at Arlington Park, with clients, family and colleagues – including those from the Home Office, City West, City North, Palatine, Far Northwest and Fox Valley – in attendance.

In addition to cheering on the horses in the “Baird & Warner/WINGS race,” guests could participate in an item package raffle and cash jackpot raffle. Also, B&W representatives were on hand in the Winner’s Circle.

“We could not be more pleased with this worthwhile event. Not only was it a wonderful afternoon, but the WINGS safe house will be the beneficiary of the generous sponsors and guests. What could be better than that? We’re already looking forward to next year,” said event chairperson Peggy Kukankos.

WINGS is a not-for-profit community agency with the mission to provide a continuum of integrated services in an effort to end domestic violence and homelessness one family at a time.

Arlington Heights' GWN Helps Journeys Rate $12,000 (June 2005)

Baird & Warner’s Arlington Heights Good Will Network helped raise more than $12,000 for Journeys from PADS to HOPE during the organization’s 3rd annual house tour, “Renovated Places and Recreated Spaces.”

Attendees toured nine homes – either newly constructed or remodeled – in Arlington Heights. Styles ranged from French Country to Arts & Crafts.

The event began three years ago and was expanded this year to showcase renovations beyond the kitchen. B&W Sales Associate Tammie Benyk, co-chair for this year’s event, said, “We have seen a substantial increase in the number of tear-downs and remodels in the area and decided to capitalize on everyone’s curiosity for the benefit of Journeys. Our goal is to create an event that will remain fresh year after year.”

Volunteers from Baird & Warner’s local Arlington Heights office and Journeys coordinated and staffed the event.

Journeys from PADS to HOPE is a not-for-profit community agency with the mission to assist the homeless and those at risk of homelessness and to study and address the underlying causes of homelessness.

Arlington Heights Makes Mother's Day Memorable for Women at WINGS (May 2005)

Thanks to Sales Associates in our Arlington Heights office, every mother at the WINGS shelter received something special on Mother’s Day.

Sales Associates contributed money and solicited donations from local businesses to make gift baskets for the 27 women housed at the shelter.

“Even basic necessities are on the ‘wish lists’ for these women,” said Sales Associate Dione Donnelly. “We gave them things they needed but also worked hard to mix in some fun personal items we thought they would enjoy.”

The WINGS (Women in Need Growing Stronger) organization provides emergency shelter, housing and career counseling to victims of domestic violence in the Northwest suburbs.

This is the 3rd year the Arlington office has supported WINGS through the Good Will Network.
